Quick Kladder Update, September

ArtPrize is the hot topic of conversation at the Kladder house this week. We've been down to visit three times already and have at least one more scheduled before the end of round 1 voting this weekend. We're HUGE fans.

This year we are official members which entails a $60 donation to ArtPrize in exchange for early entry to the GRAM and UICA on Fridays and Saturdays (which is totally worth it the money right there) as well as entry to the ArtClub which is a hang out for members and artists, and includes coffee in the morning and happy hour from 4-6p daily. The Founders beer is a nice perk!

So far we've covered the JW Marriott, The Women's City Club, GRAM, UICA, Public Museum which is outdoors only again this year, Henry Ford Museum and Ah-Nab-Awen Park. We've crossed the Blue Bridge (which is a go- site for music only this year - no art on display) as well as the foot bridge between DeVos place and the Ford and we walked through the Kendall Building. And most recently we drove north to the City Waters Building which is curated by Richard App this year and then south to Site:Lab which is in the same location it was last year. We're certain we've seen some public vote top 10s already but we won't spill the beans here... we hate spoiler alerts and wouldn't want to do that to you! But if you do want recommendations, message me - happy to share what to check out.

Back at home we're still dealing with a dirt road that we're hoping is nearing completion soon. We haven't been able to park in our driveway for weeks and are looking forward to being able to sleep in past 6:30am again. Last week I went to Costco and was reminded of what it feels like to live downtown again by carting our groceries with a wagon to our back door. I certainly don't miss that part of living downtown. This week they poured the curbs and approaches to the driveways so we're getting close.

We are LOVING the change in weather. Porches on Rosewood are filling up with fall decor and last week I secured our family's Halloween attire - it's a surprise and it's going to be a fun one! Fredrick Meijer has their fall pumpkins and mums on display already and it's gorgeous.

Outside of that, not too much excitement to report. Things are rolling right along for us this fall as we gear up for work travel ahead, leftover Halloween candy and I can already smell Thanksgiving dinner from here. Have a great week everyone.
